We welcome parent involvement at Sample Elementary School. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education generally are more successful in school and in life.
Please visit the school office any time and stay in touch with your child's teacher - see the Staff Directory for phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
We also welcome community participation, including donations of time, money, materials and expertise.

Adopt-a-School
Adopt-A-School is a community partnership that links business and community organizations with schools to share expertise and resources in an effort to support our youth and schools. It is a national and statewide program that has been adapted to meet the educational needs of local children.
Adopting a school is a way for you and your employees to give back to the community by sharing your time, energy, expertise and financial resources with our schools. Participating business people serve as positive role and career models for students.
Businesses contribute in a variety of ways:
Field trips to tour your business
Sponsorship of field trips to cultural and other events
Classroom or assembly speakers and presentations
Career exploration, activities, and presentations
Incentives, awards, or scholarships that recognize outstanding student achievement
Sponsorship of school contests: art, writing, photography, spelling, etc.
Student performances at adopter events
Donations of equipment, resources, or funds to help students and schools
Assistance for students with specialized technology and other needs
To adopt our school, please contact the principal.
Computers for Families Program
Families who have no computer at home may be eligible for reduced-price computers and Internet services. See the Computers for Families webpage.

To enter kindergarten in any school year, a child must be five years old on or before December 2 of that year. Proof of residence may be required. If you do not live within our school's boundary area, you may still choose to have your child attend this school through our School of Choice program.
Kindergarten registration is normally held the preceding February, with parent orientation meetings in January. If you are unable to register your child at that time, you may register anytime at the School District Office, even during the summer when elementary school offices are closed.
To register a child, please present proof of date of birth (birth certificate, baptismal certificate or other legal proof) and the child's social security number. Parents must also present the child's written immunization record from a physician, nurse or health department. Prior to school entry, children must be immunized for the following:
Rubella (German measles)
Measles
Polio
Diphtheria
Pertussis (whooping cough)
Tetanus
Mumps
Hepatitis B
Chicken pox
A waiver of the immunization requirement may be obtained for religious or health reasons.
All parents are welcome at the General PTA Meetings, held in the school's cafeteria on the first Tuesday evening of the month at 7:00 p.m. unless noted otherwise in the school newsletter.
Membership
If you haven't already joined, please contact the PTA President or inquire at the school office. Your $10 membership fee goes a long way for us.
