Nov. 30, 2018 | Nomination process begins throughout the district. Principals establish Teacher of the Year selection process to identify a candidate who best meets the selection criteria. |
Dec. 21, 2018 | School Teacher of the Year nomination form is due to school offices. |
Feb. 1, 2019 | District Teacher of the Year essays are due via email to communications@twinriversusd.org. |
Feb. 4 - 8, 2019 | Essays are read and ranked by the District Teacher of the Year Selection Committee. |
May 6, 2019 | School Teachers of the Year will be recognized at employee recognition dinner. Two District Teachers of the Year will be announced. |

Who may be nominated for School Teacher of the Year?
Any fully credentialed teacher may serve as School Teacher of the Year. However, in order to be considered as a District Teacher of the Year, the candidate must have been teaching for at least five years in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. (Note: pre-kindergarten teachers that hold a multiple subject and ECE Education Specialist credentials are eligible for consideration.)
Who can submit a nomination for School Teacher of the Year?
Any person – teacher, colleague, parent, student, district employee or community member, may submit a nomination. Self-nominations are also accepted.
Who selects the District Teacher of the Year?
District Selection Committees are comprised of district employees. They will select two District Teachers of the Year (representing PreK-6 and 7-12).
What does it mean to be a District Teacher of the Year?
Two District Teachers of the Year represent Twin Rivers in the annual Sacramento County Teachers of the Year program (including essay and interview process) and at events in our district throughout the school year.
