What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)?Top of Page
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a decision-making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students. It is a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) developed to promote positive, safe, and supportive school climates for ALL students by clearly identifying positive behavioral expectations and explicitly teaching the desired behaviors to students. PBIS is NOT a curriculum, intervention, or practice. It is a three-tiered model that focuses heavily on school-wide core features (Tier I).
